Reformer Pilates

The reformer is the most widely used and known instrument in Pilates. It contains a bed-like frame with a flat platform on it called, “the carriage”, which rolls back and fourth on wheels within the frame. The carriage is attached to the reformer by a set of springs, which offers different levels of resistance. The resistance created by the pulley and spring system delivers a highly effective workout with visible results almost immediately. The reformer’s many attachments and adjustments increase the range of modifications that can be made to each exercise, specifically catering to the needs of each particular person.  This capability, along with the support offered by the machine itself, allows for people with injuries or limited movements to be able to safely partake in this exercise. The reformer offers all of the famous benefits of Pilates including overall strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. These elements in turn lead to better posture, more graceful and efficient movement, and for many, relief from pain associated with physical imbalances. Exercising with the reformer is an option for anyone at any level of fitness!
